WE ARE ALL HERE TO HELP YOU
Established in 2010, founder Barbara Boettcher hand-selected the best and brightest ideas from her 25 years of early childhood education experience when launching Red Door Montessori. Located in Bothell, Washington, our school is open to ages 3-5 years of age, and offers morning or full-day classes. Consistent with the Montessori approach, our preschool focuses on the development of the whole child–spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically– with an emphasis on instilling in each child a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Red Door Montessori is proud to provide a discount to families of firefighters, police officers, and active military personnel.

Areas of Study

The materials in Practical Life, or exercises in daily living, are designed to develop independence, thus self-esteem, concentration and attention span, hand-eye coordination and fine motor control.

IMG_3567

Materials in the sensorial area are designed to develop and refine the senses allowing the child to be more acutely aware of the world in which he/she lives. These materials also develop the child’s sense of order and indirectly introduce geometry and mathematics.

Materials and activities in this area develop in the child a love for language and the skills necessary for communication. The entire environment is a rich source for oral language development and offers reading and writing in a variety of content areas.

The math materials provide the child with a concrete represntation of abstract math concepts. This “hands on” experience forms a foundation of understanding for later work in math.

Materials and activities in the cultural areas are designed to increase the child’s awareness of the total environment in which he lives, his place in it, and the people, plants, and animals that share it with him/her. These materials and activities and the discussions associated with them nurture the natural curiosity children possess regarding the world around them.
